anybody else have problems with their flash in firefox on mac, or is there an update somewhere that I need to download?

no problems here!
what kind of problems do you have (in firefox)?

in some cases. the animation will stop and it will only continue running if I keep the mouse pressed. F'n weird.

also seems that explorer can handle the animation better...runs smoother. i hate to say this because I'm not a big fan of microsoft.

I have the exact same problem. Often I have to force quit because it's impossible to close just the one window. Huge pain in the ass.

It's been a problem for me from at least 0.8, possibly prior but I don't recall for sure.

Not to be an ass, but try using the FIND function on the PVN. I posted a topic on this and my findings were if you use color Multiply (In the advanced tab of the properties panel) then it will make your movie slow as a turtle. It also doesn't handle alpha real well. One thing FireFox can handle well is sequenced images or audio or video, which is funny seeing how these are COMMON bandits of cpu/ram, but it's really the MC properties it chokes on.

Here's a link to an UltraShock thread on the subject...

Definately curious stuff, however in my observations it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with bitmap colour manipulation. I get lots of slowdown on a wide array of situations. I can't comment on what's going on behind the scenes but sometimes what appears to be pure Flash vectors get really boggy. Additionally, as has been previously mentioned, holding the left mouse button down allows all animations to run smoothly. The moment you unclick it slows down again.

welded, yeah I've heard about the left click trick. Really a pain in the ass when you see the growing popularity of FireFox. I hope MM can take care of this soon as the FF users are a progressive lot and will be willing to d/l something new.

I hear that. Camino doesn't seem to have the same problem (so far) and I am very tempted to switch to it (or Safari if I have to) but, really, this just makes this apparent bug all the more curious.
Have you tried your problem/work-arounds in Camino or Mozilla?

I just emailed macromedia and told them to fix that shit.

As I understand it, flash is at the mercy of the browser as to how often it can call on the processor to do its stuff. Firefox doesn't let Flash have as much juice as ie does. Netscape also sux but icab is pretty good.
