...did they create the multiply colour effect on the photographs in this site?!?!
http://christianpatterson.com/04…
especially the orange preloaders.i'm looking for that effect for ages now.
please please tell me.
- rasko40
doesn't the loader just have the opacity toned down?
- Bottlerocket0
I'm with rasko, I really can;t see the effect you are referring to. Perhaps its the contrast change in the pics when you jump from one image to the next?
- Peter0
Are you talking about when the preloader overlaps a pic?
- skt0
Thats what I thought at first - just at 80% opacity or there abouts, but its a pretty strong colour still when over the white. ?? who knows, can you do multiplies in flash?
Um, that was helpful then.

I think it's a second image which is darker and masked by the loader which also has a copy of itself in transparent being masked?! bit much work for the little effect but it could be done this way.

"it's a second image which is darker and masked by the loader which also has a copy of itself in transparent being masked?!"
thought about that, but that's way too much work. and you can see the image slide under the orange star.
i really really don't know how.
i don't think it is just 80% alpha or something, look at this

i think it uses one of Robert Penner's Color Tool Kit Effect. Could be a setBrightnessOffSet or setTintOffSet.

What Josimar said then....
- stewart0
sounds good ok_not_ok.
i'll go look for that.
is that "setTintOffSet" MX2004 only btw?
- ok_not_ok0
nope only works with Flash MX

I'm with JosimarX

The Penner Colour Kit is excellent. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't put it past robert penner to do this with code – I'm off to investigate.

I have just been playing with it now. The Movieclip protoypes are great.
And you could easily do what they are doing in the patterson site, by some clever masking over a duplicate of the image, transformed with some of the penner stuff.
- thismanslife0
Maybe so... but the only thing is, on the patterson site, the loading bar goes over the nav as well as the photographs (mouseover the left nav to make thr bar appear while a picture is loading) you'll see it multiplies over that too, I don't see how that could be done with masks... easily.

if anyone figured it out and has created a .fla, please post it here.
