It's feeling great to some good stuff. As designers in NT, what's your inspiration? Party hard or being a smart-ass and search for new style?

as a motion graphics designer.. i totally respect Stardust.. they've got a great style..
some of their stuff i've seen on tv.. and was wondering who did it.. it's no surprise StarDust is behind it..
i also check out www.mograph.net to be up on the latest stuff from large production houses, to individuals.. check out the reels section for inspiration about once a week ;)

party hard, then create chaos. the stardust reel is way sick. i talked to matthew marquis about 2 weeks ago and he said they were almost done. well worth the wait.

brand new school has it goin on as well. whats up with all of the cool motion graphics coming out of santa monica?

Proximity to large corporate clients with money and a youth oriented market perhaps?
- F_180
perhaps...
- F_180
but i don't think proximity counts for all that much in the age of the internet.

I do respect some of companies coming out with fresh works. However, it is hard to create something totally new from scratch, including myself. Are we blending each other for new era of modern design? If so, who might be next style maker?

you'd be surprised.

i think design (in a broad sense) is just starting to advance at an exponential rate. its almost too hard to keep up with everything,

an interesting question this thread has me thinking is;
are motion graphic designers more trend-driven with their inspiration than graphic designers?
of course, good typography will always be good typography.. but is it possible to create timeless motion graphics? and who's really doing it? it seems to me like the shelf-date on some of these reels can't be more than 3-5 years... at which point everything starts looking pretty dated.
i can definitely think of some timeless film titling (kyle cooper, saul bass).. but the stuff that companies like Stardust/Brand New School are doing (which in my opinion are the sickest in the game right now).. is any of it really going to be as hot as it is today 10yrs from now?
that being said, the new Stardust reel is some beautiful work. resssspect.

PJ (who is pepe here, for any of you who don't know) and the Stardust crew are the shit. Golden touch for sure. chl is a big fan.

saw the INCUBUS clip a while ago on the musicchannels.
i like the analog cut'n'paste style a lot.http://www.stardust.tv/video.php…
didn't know it was a stardust production.

Our reel will be dated in a year, if not to you guys to us who made it.

i work at a motion company who actually put a lot of research into collecting these reels and they are so happy if you make something that approches these reels and work.they react in the wotds..wow it almost looks real...
i think stardust, shynola etc are fire inspiring and oit hurts my heart if my boss tells met just to copy their style..for me they deserve much more credit than that..told my boss this once but he gave just this furious look;like go away you puny selfmade(i had to learn AE from myself..in belgium they are praticaly NO good courses about, and if they are its mostly colour correction)motion designer...keep up the good work guys, seeying work always brings a smile to my face.(and for a different reason also a smile on my boss his face$$$)

if its any concilation our clients tell us to do the same thing, they'll send us a piece from bns as 'inspiration' its a bit testing at times
