Is it really true that people in the south call soda "Coke"
no matter if they want a Sprite or Mountain Dew, or even a pepsi? everything is coke?

really annoying isn't it...
but we don't call them pop either here in DC area...
SOFT DRINK refers to all...
Coke = Coke (or cocaine)
POP = gun shots in North East DC

In the south "pop" is a refreshing carbonated beverage...preferably Dr. Pepper. Isn't brand specific.
Those crazy New Englanders call it "tonic".

i'm a southerner and I day "drink." What type of drink depends completely on location and time. Convienence store during a road trip? Drink means Soft Drink. 5 O'clock any day of the week? Drink means alcoholic beverage.

I bet you drink Iron Bru ey Chossy?
Irn Bru is the most popular caffeinated soft drink in Scotland. It is available throughout Britain, Russia and Canada. Its advertising slogan used to be "Made in Scotland from Girders", although the closest one can come to substantiating this claim is the 0.02% ferric citrate listed in the ingredients (although this could also be seen as a pun on the name of the manufacturer: Barr). In Scotland, it is even more popular than Coca-Cola.

I drink the Bru, it's the world's best hangover cure - saw it on TV so it must be true :b
People from Glasgow & the West call all fizzy juice 'ginger'. I always thought 'ginger' only referred to Irn Bru but they even call Coke 'ginger'.
"Haw Chantelle, nip doon tae the tally n git ees a boatle ay ginger hen, wull ye? Send shivers down my spine just thinking about it. I hate scumbags.
