I'm planning a trip to Rome pretty soon. Any general and design related tips? You don't have to tell me to visit the Coloseum...

I'm going back in a few weeks also. I lived there for a while a few years back.
The neighborhood known as "The old jewish ghetto" is awesome, it still has the old roads and is so authentic.
The vatican museum and St. Peter's are incredible. That is where you will see the Sistine Chapel.
Right across the bridge from the old jewish ghetto is Trestevere which is another great place.

Those weren't really design related but this was in the NTB. http://www.2stepsback.com/

Not Rome, but not far, in Firenze there is the Instituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza

Of many museums around Northern Italy, this is truly one of my favorites. Beautiful samples here, and you can see Galileo’s finger...
I’ll be moving back to Ivrea, Italy next week.

Lots to see in the way of design. You should try to get out to a restuarant called red. Everthing in the place is designed. As well check out some of teh conceot lifestyle stores like TAD
