My Powerbook just chewed up a CDRW but bad. It used to be fine, but it got trapped inside for a while until fortunately OSX spit it out as an unmountable drive. That was kind of a relief and I didn't lose any data but now I'm afraid to put anything of any value in it.
Anybody else have this happen to them?

No doubt. It explains an awful lot, really.

eh, I was bored and the wild turkey was flowing. what can you do.

I hear that. Type something up in TextEdit so it can garble some sweet nothings back to you. Maybe an HTML doc.
I recommend Vicki.

Vicki is a whore and won't talk to me.
Hey, to somewhat help you out, there is only one way to find out if it's going to go it again you know. Try a music CD. Then a previously burned CD of whatever.

i used to have these issues..
on my G4 there's this tiny hole where you can put a needle in to force eject the disc. dunno about powerbooks tho.

Just leave Junior alone. When he says he can keep a secret he's lying.
Great minds... I tried a used CD I picked up uesterday and it worked fine. No CDRs handy, but I've had a world of trouble with this one pack of shit Memorex disks...

I took a look for some sort of emergency eject and I don't see anything like it. Next time Adobe CS gets installed I hold my breath, I guess. :\

Oops, there is your problem.
I had the same problem with Memorex CDRs with my CD burner two years ago. Only 1 in a handfull would read and burn properly. I thought it was my burner. I thought it was just that pack of CDs but I guess not.

Excellent. One was dead on arrival, I've already tossed one out, and this one makes three out of a 5 pack that weren't worth the pastic they're pressed with.
Live and learn and be happy I didn't lose any work.
