Went to Sky Captain at 4:45 today. I live North of San Francisco. So guess who ended up sitting right in front of me watching the movie. Yup.. George Lucas and his kids.
Pretty cool because nobody bothered him. Most people dont around here since they are respectful and they know he lives here.
But man oh man... It took all my strength to not yell out ..
"WHY DID YOU RUIN STAR WARS AND WHY DID YOU PUT HAYDEN IN AT THE END OF THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS.

tell him i am the only person on the entire planet that likes his THX 1138 best..
it'll do him good.
- superbaka0
it was your patriotic duty to tell him that.
actually, i would have just gotten in a 'lively' conversation with my friend about how much he is ruining star wars as if i didnt know he was there. passive agression..
- quamb0
bah- its his star wars, let him change it. he's has done great things for the sfx side of film making, and spewed forth freaken star wars out of that brain.
- g3kk0k1d0
well u could have ask him to maybe fix SWG or just told called him jabba or something

1138 is a visionary thing!
- exador10
one thing about him..
no matter how he rejigs starwars, no matter how bad the new movies are, and no matter now much we think the series went downhill with these new chapters one thing remains true..starwars and empire will always be the one single touch-point of all our lives..
anyone here around the age of 30 or so was there (i'm 32, and i was there in 1977 when it opened...and was there when empire came out...
both those movies, like nothing before or since fired the imagination...
you know how some folks from the 60's were lucky enough to be at woodstock..and can turthfully say that no concert, no event will ever match it...
well it's true..
same goes with films like starwars, and empire..
they changed not only film making, but probably inspired more people than any other movie of our generation...well, except for Ishtar.
;)

ishtar! hahahaaa
freddy got fingered!

i do wish he'd stop trying to revise history though. his films were good, maybe a bit hokey, but heck, leave them alone.
move on, do something new and fresh.
there's something pathological about him constantly revising his own output.

omg u nurds :P

yes lucas has failed us strangely with the last 2, and i blame it squarely on the narcotic of computers, but that is neither here nor there ....if he had been sitting in front of me, i might have been tempted to ask him in a THX-1138 voice : "What's Wrong ?"
but to add to exador's sentiment / statement ///
the late 70's in america was a euphoric, naive, golden existence. it was a glorious time.
to me, it's as if star wars represents a time when this country's imagination was still sort of unfettered.
when the world's imagination in fact was "pre-star wars"
when there were no computers, really.
(oddly: star wars coincides with the rise of the computer)
& while you could argue it is only a movie, it is sort of a testement to the consciousness, the sort of fragile visual taste of the human species.
on a darker note, star wars also confirms the existence of evil in the universe and in some ways is analogous to life in this world today.
CNN : "wacky Bush administration-Star Wars analogy starring Dick Cheney as Darth Vader.
Columnist Maureen Dowd explains that Bush is Luke Skywalker, and "he has the good father, who is his own dad, who believed in internationalism and the Atlantic alliance and doing things with the allies and coalitions. And then you have the bad, dark father, Darth Vader, which is Dick Cheney, and he sort of led the president down this gloomy, dark, paranoid path of unilateralism and sort of bullying the world."

Well - I ordered the box (getting it tomorrow -w00t!), which makes me pretty nerdy becuase this will be the 3rd version I'll own (got both VHS boxes as well). I think he has all the rights to fiddle with his toys. he has the time, the money and the resources now to fine tune his movies like he always wanted it. I mean... if we were in his position, we'd probably do the same; I think its a great luxury to be able to do that.

lol @ TF
