ok so how do I (or can I?) go about setting up users so that if someone tries to use my machine, they are greeted with at least some kind of abuse?
You used to be able to do this in os9 but I cant seem to do it in osx...??

so you want this abuse to greet all the users on the machine, or just people trying to break in?
and through filesharing or what?

assuming you are logged out they can't really do anything... If your screensaver is active (and password requirement switched on) they can't do anything either... you could run abusive messages on the screensaver?

yeah.. I was just wondering if there was something that could easlity give abuse to scare off idiots.. heh

you dont really need to scare em off since the system is so easy to secure... but there should be some screensaver module out there that allows you to run text messages on mouse movement...
or a standalone app like Lockout idf you want extra features (people can leave abusive messages for you too!)
