I'd like to play around with clay animations for a bit. Are there any sites or books with some good starters info like what kind of clay to use and stuff like that? Thanks in advance!

I've been looking around a little. Van Aken seems to be the best clay to use, but will it be ok to use a cheaper one the first time? I don't know where I can buy Van Aken in Holland... Will some kid stuff like this do the job aswell? http://www.ses.nl/EN/s3.htm
any tips on where to buy Van Aken clay?

go buy The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams. It's the best animation book ever, looks at 2D a lot but the techniques are invaluable.

there was a place round the back of Warren Street that sold prof. art materials like clay , wax etc. Not sure if it is still there. I can't remember where anywhere else and it has been some time since I did any claymation... I will have a think.
Have you thought about dropping Aardmann a line?
They are really good people and I am sure they would help?On a side note do you realise how big Aardmann make their characters.? They are massive. I thought they would be tiny little wee things, but when they wheeled out Wallace he was the 30cms big! God knows why I thought he was going to be tiny though...
