what is a grid?

I agree Jevad, i would say that you need idealy the whole content, before starting, to understand the space you'll need. After that, use your grid in order to create your composition.
Using such grid shouldn't block your creativity, but in contrario, to help you.

"the grid shouldn't dictate the design - the grid should be built around the images and text you have initially."
I don't agree - you start with the grid and build around it

Always remember Typography is god. Don't mess to heavily with a god cause he/she will mess with you back. Try keeping same font size, weight and horizontal scale, then work from there... maybe.

I don't get it a grid in what way was a grid used?. Also there is 3 white blocks in the middle at the top, the right hand on is not alligned with the others is that meant to be?.

you'll learn, we were all shite at one point.
try to start out with an empty background when working on the grid, and then add an image. Also be careful with a tagline like the one, it isn't even properly aligned horizontally; makes it kinda hard to claim you are better not?
- DutchBoy0
save, i liked your previous line better..
whatever happened to:
"i think it's shit"
:]
- Kuz0
What's with the random squares flying around the place? aesthetically unpleasing, especially the one on the far right touching the line. I wanna punch it.

Grid Systems in Graphic Design will be the most well-spent $80 of your life.

lol @ save
for that grid travesty you are sentenced to be locked in a room with a pencil, paper, ruler and copy of Grid Systems in Graphic design until a sense of assymetrical balance is beaten into you.

oh my fucking God, whadda piece of shit......ever thought of trying a different career....????

also, the mix of simple drop shadow and non-shadow text is a bit odd...perhaps unifying these elements would help too

well done - for some inspiration look for some sites on a guy named josef muller brockmann. remember - the grid shouldn't dictate the design - the grid should be built around the images and text you have initially.

open the gridspace more - let it breathe...it's so cluttered you can't see the grid!
- johndiggity0
i agree with what's been said. try fucking around with the size and placement of your grid on the page. consider what places in the grid need to be emphasized. it looks more columnar than gridlike as it stands now.

I don't know, it doesn't do much for me. I think it's the font, it's like Atari meets something terrible.
