ok so i went to the Saul Bass ( http://www.designmuseum.org.uk/h… ) and yes it was f*cking good, anyone in London I would highly recommend going to visit. Did I say how f*cking good the guy is?
Then we got outside and (OMG!!) there were two kids outside on a bench with laptops hooked up with a cable, mac2pc maaan!!... and they were... doing.. stuff... and she had some kinda 'anti encryption' t-shirt on.. and he was just.. well.. geeky... but they were a couple, and they weren't talking... because.. they had... ETHERNET!!
totally awesome. and mega scary.
But yeah.. Saul Bass... awesome, go see, bee inspired.

Man, I would LOVE to check it! I wish the exhibition would travel to LA (fat chance!). All the interesting design exhibitions seem to happen in London and New York.

for some reason, I got the impression that the exhibition was a travelling one (I dont know why I thought this but i did).. and so, as it is so hooked up with film, I would expect it to be in LA at some point.
but then, wtf do I know

haven't had a chance to get down and see it but will go this weekend. I did hear a couple of mixed reviews about the show but then I heard mixed reviews of the Peter Saville show they had on a while back and that was just awesome. If it's half as good as that it'll be the dogs.
As for Saul Bass himself, legend and a genius. Probably the greatest. I did hear that his wife is holding onto his work and won't allow any books to be published? Any one else heard this?

there's a little documentary on him on the Cape Fear dvd, btw, if anyone's interested.
it's not the greatest, but it's still the most recognition i've seen a designer claim on a dvd extra.

If its half as good as the Peter Saville exhibition... I'll be disappointed.

I thought I had seen te most of his work before I went to the exhibition, but there was a lot of movie titles and artwork that I saw for the first time. And I did not now that he actually directed a lot of scenes in Psycho, including the shower scene. Fantastic. that scene took a week to shoot.

you people from europe are lucky!
we just have shitty postmodern design exhibitions...

james, you didn't like the Peter Saville show?
I wasn't comparing work by the way, I was talking about the show itself? The saville show was so good because of all the background material, sketches, music, ideas etc that went into it.
Really well put together. If the Bass one is like that then it will really do him justice.

I was joking... it was a take on a paul rand (I think) book title...
went some like'If only one person who reads this book is helped by it... then I've failed'
or something like that... someone tell me!
