dutchboy, fantastic, i don't really understand to well but it sounds like he cam up with a compression scheme for memory intensive files and that he coded onto a chip later to be played back on a computer. sounds like he basically made a computer as fast as a tv. sounds almost too good to be true... can't wait till the book gets translated, then i will put it in my book collection next to Nikoli Tesla http://ufologie.net/htm/teslbio.… and Lev Theremin http://web.mit.edu/invent/iow/th…
the idea is simply amazing, i can see just the threat of a great idea can get someone killed....

interesting, robotron.
for those who don't understand it yet, it's a source-code that kills the idea of the basis of all computer code: one's and zero's.
it's basically a key on a chipcard like most of you know (like this:
) that's being decoded on a machine/processor (computer, pda, mobile). This key would be a string smaller then 1024bytes (if i remember well).. but they way numbers interact/calculate is what makes this genius.i have no clue what the trick is, nor does anyone, ofcourse.
but this is sort of the basic idea of his invention.
in the end the formula would be fairly simple. so simple he was terrified someone would steal it.
he hand-made a decoder and got the chipcard (containing only 64kb!!) and the decoder to demonstrate this on various laptops of the invited vip's and scientists.
In one of the stories i found on this i read even the most hardcore encryption experts were just silent for minutes looking at it in unbelief.
16 full quality movies were displayed at immense processing speed all at the same time, all data coming from the tiny chipcard in combination with the very small decoder-box hooked up to a laptop.

dutchboy, i just saw the movie, saw the demonstrations, did you say there was a part 2?
- DutchBoy0
yeah, i will look it up.. (i just read the articles you posted btw.. somehow makes me think this is just another of those guys way ahead of their time..).
btw, please note that some of the stuff you see there is 'reconstructed' based on the stories told by countless witnesses from many industries.
i will see if pt. 2 is already online, as it is always added after the TV broadcast, which was only hours ago.
- DutchBoy0
hmm.. the article of pt.2 is online, but not the stream yet..
http://www.netwerk.tv/index.jsp?…
anyway, as i see it leak out over the internet already (google giving already more results on this compared to 48 hours ago), i expect there must be some english info available soon!
hehe, come to think of it, i might be amongst the first to tell this story to the foreign public. what an honour. ;P
someone should translate it all (and i mean ALL) and post it on Slashdot or something, the nerds will be all over it discussing this. Many will call it utter BS, others will check the sources and find the most important people in the industry confirming this worked, but noone has a clue how this can be made possible, except for the late mr. Jan Sloot.

to those who can't get the stream properly via their browser, here is a direct link:

I saw a story very similar to this about an American guy that had invented pretty much the same thing but it was all a scam, in this version of the story he made off with millions in venture capital from all these huge companies because he had a video player hooked up to the computer monitor or something to play video saying it was coming over the net. ANyway it sounds like a god yarn anyway.

Dutchboy you around???, sounds like your interested in video work... maybe you might find this link of mine interesting. i put together a dv lens and made a page of schematics and links to help people on my video user group. the purpose is to create depth of field for virtually any kind of dv camera.
- chossy0
was that film sneakers not about something like that??
- DutchBoy0
omg.. derailz0rs!
but hey, that's way cool, robotron. i've always been wondering what means there are to get closer to film with fairly simple DV equipment.
but upon seeing the testfootage (not read it all yet) it seems it's pretty much work to shift focus? as you might need to adjust several lenses/rings at the same time? cuz everywhere you do that the camera seems to be shaky and i take it it was mounted on a tripod?
way cool to see how old nikon lenses go together with Canon XL.. :)
i got some of those old nikons still lying around and must also have a box full or rings and stuff somewhere..
should try this soon!

yeah, it's amazing how it all actually works, the video was from my 1st version, the part in the bar was my 2nd version, i later broke that one, now i put togegether my 3rd version, which i'm planning to use in the near future.
once it's all setup, you only need to pull focus on the end/prime lens... here is another great example done by some guys in brussels, they shot this dv short through the lens of a 35mm camera mounted on a piece of board...

cool trailer!
