for earlier versions

the way to do it, imo, is to have an interval too check the loading procedure, when bytesloaded == bytestotal. Only then start duplicating the MC. Otherwise it's not possible.
sorry, if it was answered before, not enough patience to read all the posts...
- System-Idle0
If you want to centralise the code just put a function on the _root that checks for the jpg to load. once loaded use a for loop to duplicate the mc's and load the jpg in the mc's on the fly
- MX_OnD0
my thoughts too unfit.
- System-Idle0
include an onEnterFrame inside the function, or as earlier suggested an interval call out side the function

ut as you can see in this test... the image has clearly loaded...
so it can't be that.
- System-Idle0
when yr duplicating the mc,
after that code add:
newMcName.loadMovie("url.jpg")
- JamesEngage0
cool... ok...
someone wrote this on another site...
Flash will check the user's cache drive to see if the image is in there before it goes to the web and load it from the cache directory...
Is this true, or does Flash use the browsers config?
- System-Idle0
I would say it uses the browser config. if they have set it to check everyvisit flash will look for newest version every time. If they have another setting it might not refresh straight away
- unfittoprint0
There are ways to avoid caching.
something like
mc.loadMovie("image.jpg?"+Math.r...
note: not 'previewable' in MX.
- JamesEngage0
hehe I want the opposite... to make sure it caches!
- MX_OnD0
you have mail
- unfittoprint0
well as long as you load the same image over and over, it will cache the first time.
You should wait that the first loading completes before anyother loading procedure.

my shite laid open to any crit(icism)
thank you kindly:
attachMovie("holder_mc", "holder01_mc", 1);
holder01_mc.loadMovie("test.jpg... 1);
nextClips = function() {
clearInterval(loadInterval);
for(i=0;i= 100) {
nextClips();
}
}loadInterval = setInterval( loading, 50 );
all you need do is rename test.jpg and the _x property in the
initObject of the attachMovie in the nextClips function, just a sample
so to speak...
test use and tweak to taste.

I have multiple loads. Bow to me.
- MX_OnD0
*bows and opens umbrella
- MX_OnD0
I used attachmovie after all, but I'm sure it takes the cached image... if you want to check to be certain upload a trial and see from your server log how often the jpg was requested....
