What version is the best to use
4.1, 5.0, 6.0

6.0.
Providing your printers have got it.

Really. What is the learning
curve from 4.1 to 5, 6?
would a book on quark 4 still be useful?
- HumanMale0
There isn't much difference between 5 and 6 interface and functionality wise, but it is quite a leap from 4.1 to 5.
If you are using 5 or 6 a book on 4.1 wouldn't be much use.
Could get a book that's the same as the version you are using?! :-/

Having said that, I'm trying a move to InDesign CS. I don't particularily like Quark...
InDesign CS does a very good job of importing Quark files, much better integration with Photoshop, Illustrator etc...

Thanks, I just have a Quark 4
book already. I will get the right book when I decide what to go with.Anyone know where I could download 5 or 6?
I tried Limewire but no dice.

Download it?!
The cheek! If your not looking to buy it, what difference does it make?!
Bloody freeloaders...

there is no learning curve. if you know quark, you know quark. and i am sorry for you, because I must use this program every day and it is truly awful.

I would just learn Indesign, but alot of offices still use Quark.

when I swtiched to osx iI also switched to InDesign, and haven't had to use quark since. And I do a lot of print/ad work

what matters is what printers you use. only two printers in town print from InDesign, and many aren't even on Q6.
You can download Quarkies if you can find em, but finding serials that work is another story.
