You think OOP is good for a beginner to just jump into?
I prefer Joshua Davis' Flash to the Core. A good introduction for beginners and some advanced concepts and handy code. His writing style is very easy and relaxed too.

OOP is much easier to learn if you don't already have bad habits imho.
