Apple sold its SOUL to HP....
Apple licensed its iPod to be sold by HP under HP brand.
This is like when Apple licensed Apple II in to the market as clones

I wonder if the next generation will be simply 1 iPod, co-branded, that would make alot more sense, especially since they are exactly the same thing marketed by two seperate companies, which may confuse technologically impaired end users into thinking one is better than the other.

the iPod is only a stepping stone, to get people to use the iTMS, and to buy more macs...and when you are 5% of the market, your focus is the PC people...using HP to help get iPods out there(and with iTunes installed on their PCs), people say "hey, this iPod is so cool and user friendly, why dont i look at a mac for my next computer?"....
believe me, it pains me too seeing hp with its hands on the iPod, but hey, sometimes you gotta give a little to get a lot....

Forgive me for sounding a fool, but WHAT IS THE POINT TO THIS?
The guts are still an ipod, the product design is still ipod, the functionality is still ipod, the price is the same as Apple.
Are they basically shipping non Apple logo ipods to an HP factory and then adding the HP logo?
Sorry, if I wanted one of "those things" I"d buy from Apple, and this time, to actually be cool.

i wouldn't say apple is stupid at all. they are taking advantage of the fact that consumers are so stupid that they will now buy the ipod because of the logo being hp, same guts, same case, different logo, same dumb people.
