Oh thank the lord. It took a client was past due nearly 90 days for a fairly large lump sum.
I called... and CALLED "pay me, bitches"
and emailed and EMAILED...
i was nice... i was angry...
and i got answers back like "oh your invoice is sitting right here on my desk" "next week" "we cut checks on friday"... "billing as moved to texas"... "we've lost your W9 for the 10th time, can you send it again?" ...and yet no check arrived.
after waiting so long and making due without something you were counting on, you kind of forget you've even got it coming. and then BAM... its like christmas.
ah the fuckers.

So what was in your stocking?

yeah, I had a similar situation recently; except I needed the cash really freakin bad (getting kicked out onto the street bad),
Yet they were taking forever with it. Every time I would contact them they would make some bullshit excuse and say they would look into what was taking so long. 40 + days later the cheque arrived.

Curious if either of you write into the contract to allow for interest if the bills are not paid on time?

you cant do that with giant corporations. Many design firms in the area don;'t bother so it's hard to do it as a freelancer for places like Geffen and Interscope.
Disney usually takes upwards of 150 days to pay sometimes.
i do it with my smaller clients and i can even get paid up front. but the bigger corporations really would rather keep your money in the bank and make interest off of it rather than pay me on time. and there are plenty of other people willing to take my place is i complain. it's damned if you do... damned if you dont.

i actually write contracts with ever last client i have except interscope and geffen... but right now they give me the most work and my friends there run the dept. i cant start getting all demandie when theyre doing me a favour really. :(
im just glad it finally came... and it wasnt my only source of income. *phew*
