I will be attempting to earn a crust freelancing from mid sept, I've never freelanced before so I am looking for ANY info, tips, blags, software, tax info or anything that may be of help, preferably relevant to the UK.. Do you guys have accountants/bookmakers or just do it yourself? Can I claim against my home rent as work space?
Thanks :)

*bump* I know there are freelancers here..

yes, u can claim your house as work space. Save all your receipts. You'd be suprised at what you can claim. Pretty much everything.

well I'd ask my mum. But my point is - do you know anyone who will do the books for a favor? You don't want to be paying for that shit...

well, I just thought that a pro would know ALL the blags and everything I can get away with so I thought it may pay for itself plus more monies more meesie..

one way of going about it is to put away 20% of your pay. To be on the safe side. I have a really hard time doin that. I can feel the IRS breathing down my neck

Do you have much work on the side now? I'd have no idea how to get enough to keep me in food...
