ok i know this has been beaten to death, so let me really narrow down what i'm looking for -
i have a targus bag, and it's ok, but low quality: rips easily, not very rugged.
i've seen some bags that look really tough, thick black fabric, big zippers, almost look waterproof. i'm getting ready for a bunch of touring, and really want to keep things protected yet carry them around all over. any ideas?
thx,
sc

This puppy is made for laptops and rugged use.

Has 3 other compartments plus a mini one.
Has a Spot for your Ipod and cord hole.
If you want something that is tuff and holds alot..
I love mine.

Another similar bag is by kensington:

I have this bag and love it so far. The material is tough, it had a place for your mp3 player like the Jansport one, a couple compartments and a pouch for the laptop. I like the pouch because it is very well padded and is suspended within the bag so if you were to drop the bag, the laptop is not gonna hit :D

I'll second that Incase suggestion. They are quite nice.

hand made by bike messengers...they will embroider your design on the bag if you provide artwork...they will also build pockets and whatnot to your specs if you give them a sketch...
awesome stuff

Negative - Does the MP3 compartment on the Kensington have room for a standard iPod?
Is there a pocket on the strap for a cell phone?

i'm really loving some of these, guys, very cool. has anybody had any experience with the boblbee though?
at 180$ USD it's very pricey, but hell - the exterior is made out of motorcycle helmet plastic and is rock solid. i can't think of cheaper insurance on a host of digital editing, camera, and computer gear. esp. when faced with so many planes, tranes, and grumpy security guards...
i'm really interested if anybody has any experience with the boblbee

I have been using the Dakine Terminal bag. Holds my laptop, iPod, camera, phone, cords and cables with room to spare.
