how do I do a gradient background in my html side, kind of like the one on the Macromedia site...?

You could make a really tall one pixel wide image of the gradient you want and use that as the background.

i used to do that all the time..
if you have Dreamweaver working with css is so damn easy..
make a 1 pixel wide but really high/tall gif with a gradient top to bottom and make it repeat horizontally.
