What are good (free) blogging systems to set up easily?
don't need too much options.
and i want it to be as minimal as possible (or at least customizable by css)..
no fancy colored blogs or complicated installation requirements, pls!
Movable Type is too complicated, Blogger looks too toys'r'us to me..
oh, i can host it meself..

www.wordpress.org I have found really good, it's quite maluble and I find easy peasy to install and use.
also supports multiple users well.

movable type is just too much work to install... so that's a no-go. and much to advanced/comprehensive anyway..
and YH, well i once started one there but the first comment was already as negative as you can get it. YH is just full of frustrated whiny bitches. Won't go back there anymore.
Oh, and this blog is basically something for myself, to store ideas/thoughts/experiences etc. It'd be interesting to have an overview of this after a while.
oh, and those who are interested to read it.... well that's just a nice side-effect..

cool DB keep me posted. how about you just make a small news system kinda like pbs for youself and then just post in your own site to a url that isn't linked in the main site... can't u customize blogger?

for the past several weeks i've been warping movabletype to my evil purposes. it's surprisingly flexible.
i'd strongly suggest typepad if you're looking for simple. it's made by six apart as well.
