Bookmark PDF?

  I need to create bookmarks within a pdf that follow a tree structure, ie; I have a list say 1. 2. 3. 4. etc, when I click on 1., it springs open to reveal bookamrks a,b,c,d etc..

  I cansee how to add bookmarks but not these sub boookmarks.. I'm using acrobat 4, do I need a later version perhaps.. any helpers?
