I like how in the background of the movie there was a imac.
All these great ideas, where do they come from.
- abstrakt0
imacs suck dude. at least the one he had. it's for testing. at work i develop on pc, but i have an imac right next to me.
and no, this idea did not come from apple. jesus, give microsoft some credit.

i hate to be a ballbuster, but what's the big deal? the photos are automatically enlarged upon moveover? you can sort them by groups?
plus, you seem to be forgetting that this is a microsoft product.
- abstrakt0
um, because it's pretty damn cool? did you forget to mention that?
microsoft avalon (the next windows) is going to be a 3d operating system. this technology is going to be incorporated into the operating system.
- jox0
Microsoft's definition of "making something cool" seems to be to add a heavy graphics theme to an old engine. Whenever they incorporate something new to any of their stuff, shit crashes. It took them five years to make a working OS out of Windows 95, so I suppose when this launches, we'll have something working, say 10 years from now?
I'm just not buying it. They always have this amazing stuff in theory, but in reality, it blows.

The 3D/fluid display and face recognition stuff is cool... Quite a bit of the filtering stuff like the multiple subsets (bins), 'find similar' and filtering/viewing by date and other attributes already exists in apps like iView Media Pro... just not as sexy...

(aug 17 04, 12:34)facial recognizer? dynamic group organizer [date/size/type]? hystory? beautifully intuitive...
well some of it can be done in a Flash/db application, it's quite inspiring....
hmm.....
- abstrakt0
jox, avalon is being coded [almost] from the ground up, from what i've read.

so...
when apple made their OS X graphic heavy, does it really make a big difference?
- jox0
Apple is not Microsoft.
