Just bought the basic 17", http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-…
RAM: is 512 the minimum required to run Jaguar? I ask because my older 15" seems faster. The new one keep hanging and is slow to respond.
I don't mind buying more RAM if it will correct these issues or if I just got a funky machine.
Cheers.

I don't know, but if I just dropped $2800 on a laptop I surely would not want performance that could in any way resemble the world "funky"
man, 512 used to be a TON of RAM. now you must need a Gig!

the minimum to run Panther is 128 with a G3, note the "run" part. to run it well i'd at least have 512.
512 you should be good to go. to run the OS. you have one 512 chip in there with one open slot. if you don't mind buying more memory, i'd slap either a 1GB chip or a 512 into that open slot.

if it seems slow for certain things, make sure if you have installed new apps to repair permissions and also check Font Book to eliminate any Duplicate Font issues.
