anyone know where I can me hands on some of that old metal type? [UK]
It seems most of it has been melted down to help build china......

look at ebay for typesetting.

St Brides Library has loads of it left. Not sure if you can use it though. Try London College of Printing in lambeth
Also my old Uni (Exeter) had working machines when I was there with 10 or more font sets and a guy that had way too much time on his hands looking after it all.
