My brother is a porn surfing fiend. I once got rid of all his spyware and saved his computer. Now his computer is so jacked up that IE opens even whan your using Mozilla browsers and spawns multiple IE windows.
The worst part is that you can't delete or remove IE or any of the shady software. Spyware programs don't relieve the problem either.

Reformat and tell him this is his last chance to not fuck it up would be a solution.
My girlfriend's brother is the same way. That damn boy has never found an IE or MSN plugin that he wouldn't download. I've spent hours leveling their system out just to have him fuck it up again. It's not worth it. Either surf porn responsibily or don't at all.

yeah, ive spent countless hours cleaning spyware from peoples computers. and its 40x worse when you're dealing with porn junkies.
i can usually get rid of everything using these mthods:
+ spyware removers (ad-aware, spybot, pest control)
+ start>run>msconfig; in the panel go to startup tab and uncheck everything
then just go through the running processes (ctrl-alt-delete) and just kill, find and delete running process that dont belong. Then finding references to them in the registry.
+ then i set people's browsers to not allow downloading of active x controls. The only active x controls people really need are flash and shockwave...easy enough to get those.
not that nayone really asked for my advice. im just trying to kill time before ther game starts

No, really it's not me. I have a Mac. My brother is messing up my grandmas PC because he lives there.
It had gone away for a while after I got rid of all the spyware and had him start using Firefox instead but now it's back worse than ever.
What is the solution for deleting or removing programs that won't let you remove them?

"What is the solution for deleting or removing programs that won't let you remove them?"
you need to stop the process first using task manager, but i would just backup everything and reinstall. there's no telling what might be running in the background - keyloggers, data miners, etc.

definitely do a reformat to be sure everything's gone. then create a user for the brother on the machine that has limited install rights. that'll learn him!

Hmmm, I think the real question is how to kill the problem at it's source...

reformat/reinstall
its the only way

addressing mg's response, I would suggest having the browser forward to tubgirl.com anytime an adult themed address is entered.

It cant be that hard to see what processes are running can it? (or is Windows just a mess that way?)
- gabriel_pc0
a lot of times the spyware runs as just a generic app with a name that's similar to other windows core apps so it's difficult to distinguish it from other eccential apps.
- ribit0
and the spyware sweeper programs dont find em?
- gabriel_pc0
it all depends on how well the spyware people engineered the software to avoid spyware detection...
I would recommend getting a personal firewall of some type to block external communication by the spyware apps. Often times that will make it a lot easier to remove them. I personally use ZoneAlarm:
