Can anyone suggest the best package for 3D work on the Mac? I used to use Infini-D back in the 'classic days'.
• Cinema 4D?
• Swift 3D - OSX version?
• Lightwave?
• Any others out there?I plan to use it with Flash and After FX to 'raise my game'!
*I'm sure there's lots of discussions about this on here but the search keeps giving me an error*
Many thanks.

I don't use Macs, but I hear Maya is also an option for them. I'd perhaps look into that or Cinema-4D. They are certainly the most robust.
If you are serious about 3D, you may want to look into getting a PC. I'm not looking to get into a MAC/PC debate as I don't give a shit, but there are just a lot more options for the PC at the time being.

I dont wanna get into the PC/Mac debate either...
But it is obvious that there's more out there for the PC and After FX, Video editing, sound and 3D does seem to integrate better.
If i had the cash I'd use both. But for now I gotta make do with a 17" Powerbook...
Life is tough :o)

I don't have experience using either piece of software for the Mac. Maya is probably the most robust 3D program for the Mac, but I've heard it runs a bit sluggish. And unless you are really interested in character animation, particle programming, or dynamics, Maya is probably just a waste of money.
You're probably more interested in the motion-graphics side of 3D which essentially every program can handle. I'd stick with Cinema-4D.

I work on a mac and pc at my work. I love my mac for final cut pro, but Lightwave seems to run better on the pc (renders in 2/3 time) and most of the 3rd party plug-ins and even some of the LW plug-ins wont work on the mac.
I have heard that maya is the best all around 3D software, but you need a team to work on it. If a single peson is doing it all, LW, C4d are better.

Thanks everyone.
As mentioned, I'm not intending on getting to deep into 3D. Just wanted to add a little spice to my Flash and After FX.
I imagine I'll be mainly doing logo's, and 'odd shaped things' to compliment some skate videos some pals are putting together.
No character animation for me. I'll leave that for the pros.
Cinema 4D it is!
Thanks again.
