does the classsic mode on osx take up a lot of room. if it does is there any way of deleting it?

Mine takes around 300Mb, not so much!!

you can easily drop it to the bin.

and if you ever want it back you just need to install OS9, on either your local or on an external Firewire disk, and select that to use for Classic. OSX has all the bits still built in to recognise and use the OS9 installation.
