this is a long shot, if anybody is awake, but i can't seem to admin my first database with them, cause i can't get a hostname to work .......... ??

well, i keep trying that out of my mysql client program, but it just throws me to my next command line without connecting.......sorry i'm a total n00b here
should it be fooDoman@localhost or something like that, or just localhost.....i know i have my username right, and i am just prompting for the password, but it never asks me to enter my password

um. You referring to a SS on Media Temple? Are you just trying to login into via the command line or through phpMyAdmin..?
umm. I used to have a AS there..but you should use oyur full qualified user name and domain..as you stated almost.
I thought you might have been talking about it on the page level in a dbConnect script.

via the mysql client program command line........lol.....haven't even had a chance to try some php and make dbConnection

I rarely log in via ssh into mysql but the host might be your ss shared server..something like..

i don't think mt allow ssh or telnet access unless you have a dedicated server with them? maybe? perhaps? dunno...
