GODDAMIT!!
I'm scared.
Thing is I started my iPod on my old work computer - its full to the brim of every AC/DC, Van Halen, Metallica, Poison and 80's music you can think of...none of which I brought onto this comp.
I really would be starting from scratch.
SOulseek here I come....
- ribit0
you can copy it all off first...

etc etc

Automate Your Mix
Chances are your answer to the question “what’s your favorite music?” would depend on your mood, where you are, who you’re with and what you’re doing. iTunes lets you create playlists that match your musical whims and fancies, by hand or automatically with Smart Playlists.
Simply indicate your desired criteria — like all the rock songs you’ve added to your library in the past month, songs you’ve listened to more than 10 times, and so on — and the software does the rest. iTunes automatically finds the type of songs you’ve specified and creates a playlist. iTunes offers you a wide range of new song selection criteria with which you can create smart playlists. In fact, iTunes may be more obsessive about your collection than you are.

OMG IM GONNA DO IT TOO !! LETS SYNCH!
err

hell yeah do it. Whoever said to back it up obviously does not have a mac. I uncheck the few songs I DONT want to import and then just auto-sync the thing. I erase first though (ever 5-6 months). Because if you change the name of a song it might go in your ipod twice. I did it and got about 300MB of space back.

ok heres teh thing tho - i have the 40 ipod and i dont have 40 free on my mac lol so do i always have to keep all the songs on my itunes on my HD?
- ribit0
Buy more disk space for your Mac! Its so cheap these days vs losing all your music...
- jevad0
i did it
ouch
come back 70's hair rock and 80's glam metal
: (
- tymeframe0
why don't you just keep your music on your HD and mirror your itunes to your ipod. then erasing your ipod wouldn't be a big deal.
