I watched it for the first time the other day and all it was were interviews of him asking prominent people really dumb questions.
It wasn't really funny just stupid and I felt a little uncomfortable for the the people he was interviewing.
Is it always like that? And is his persona for real?

i believe he graduated from the University of Cambridge and he is hactually very smart.
i may be wrong, but i believe stains, where he's from, is actually a really good neighborhood but he talks about it like its compton.
http://www.news.harvard.edu/gaze… talks about his history.

Oh so it's a character:
Cambridge educated Sacha was born into an affluent and respectable north London Jewish family, and is half-Israeli half-Welsh. At the public school he attended, Haberdashers-Askes, he was known for being chatty, ebullient, quite funny and an obsession with basketball, despite the school having no team.
He regularly visits Israel, and before reading history at Cambridge spent a year on the Rosh Hamikra kibbutz in northern Israel.
Sacha created Ali G, he writes Ali’s material and he IS Ali G.

"I felt a little uncomfortable for the the people he was interviewing. "
THAT'S THE POINT! :D
Watching him repeatedly get confused with the Animal Vet/War Veteran is the essence of his making it hot for people.
I think it's hilarious. And nothing beats him saying "testes satchel"

He's just a cut-up and the people he interviews are in on it. There's no way most of them would sit through it. Whatever, some are funny, some stupid like all comedians. Most of them don't take themselves seriously.

it's a bit basic...
any comedy that relies on one character will get a bit thread bare after a while.
He's is harmless enough, just not that funny anymore.

British comedy that is bought and recreated for american audiances never worked, its flogging a dead horse.
His first series was class tho, when the people he was interviewing thought he was fo-real.Sammy Wilson, member of the DUP.
Ali: "So is you Irish?"
Sammy: "No, I'm British."
Ali: "So is you on here on holiday?"
Sammy: "No, Northern Ireland has always been part of Britain."________________________
Ali: "What can we do to increase the peace? Would you ever marry a protestant girl?"
George: "I have, yes."
Ali: "Well that is a gesture, no, that is a long way to getting the peace."
George: "Yeah but I'm a protestant as well."
Ali: "Okay, alright, well, so if you weren't married to her, would you marrying a Catholic girl then?"
George: "Possibly because of my faith I wouldn't."

like Jevad said, its been around for ages, the older british series is the funnyest by far.
His Borat Character is the best
And no some poeple he interviews do NOT realise he is playing a character. Thats what makes it so funny.
I dunno maybe its just not suited to american audiences.
Borat - hunt the Fox MP3....
