how do i get the bitmap of my new font from photoshop to illustrator. i'm new to illi and the process of creating fonts alltogether. advice, links, or tutorials to any of the above are good, yes ok.

You wouldn't want to (even if you could) export a font straight from Illustrator because you need to setup metrics, kerning, etc. before you export out a TTF.

i have typetool 1.3, but haven't got to that phase of the process yet. perhaps i should re-assess my approach?
also, i've been to typofile.com but their 'build' forums are slow and a few days behind, so i came here.

you can use scanfont to pull in your bitmaps, but the app costs $200
a tutorial on the process:

in her defense, i will say that the search feature here bombs out quite a bit with implode errors. not very welcoming for a visitor.
