illy question

  this is a stupid question, but basically i have a certain red box.

  then i have a triangle, which i want to have a gradient that is a mixture of white and the "red" used in the box. my question is while editing the gradient for the triangle, how the hell do i select the "red" color from the box? eye dropper tool merely makes the gradient a solid "red" if you know what i mean. it seems like such a simple thing to do but bleh.

  I might be misunderstanding your predicament, but try selecting the colour red you want in your gradient, when it pops up on your toolbar, drag it over to your swatch palette, then when you make your gradient, drag the red swatch onto one of the nodes in your gradient palette. Does this make sense?

  try holding shift and then select with the eye dropper tool..
