did anyone see this on 60 minutes ? it is about a sick new subliminal advertising technique being conducted by Sony and other companies. they hire actors, a amna and a woman, to go to places like Times Square and pretend to be a tourist couple who need there picture taken. essentially they trick complete strangers into handling the latest camera phone .... all the time saying things like : "Pretty cool phone, huh ?"
not only that they hire people to go online undercover ... to message boards ... to pretend to like certain things, so that other people online will also like it.
feeling sick yet ?
you should.
"Soulkool employees, all of them barely in their 20s, boost the promotion by flooding Internet chat rooms and message boards with rave reviews for the movie. "

the part that sickened me - was the part where the two "hot" girls were in the bar undercover trying to promote new cigarettes. totally tricking people into something addictive and life threating .... soulkool.
it made me remember an encounter with people who were giving away free like, packs of camals in bars last year ... their technique was so weak, it was like being chatted up by christians.
they were like trying to be all buddy buddy and then basically saying : you want some free cigarettes ... "c'mon, they're free !"

we talked about this a few months back in one of my classes.
advertising and marketing methods are sick..
they also have this whole things about videogames and how people go to coffeeshops and they would be playing some new handheld thing and basically chatting up to people...but the most horrific things i read ...an di've lost the link... was about body billboards....basically college kids are paid a good amount of money to have temp tattos of ads printed on their FOREHEAD. they walk around for 2 weeks get paid and get a new one.
cha-ching.

I saw it myself. Look-Look pays people to basically do a similar thing. To go to "hip" spots around town and find out what is "hip" then you get paid like $5 for each article of hipness you find...I prefer prostitution, it pays more.

advertising is out of hand, go to the movies, and you get ads at the beginning. if I order a pay-per-view movie off the tele now, I get advertising at the beginning of that.
download managers, spyware, tracers, cookies, where will it end.

someone has also develop 'talking posters' that have proximity sensors so that when you walk nearby the damn thing starts blagging you to smoke crack or something..

ummm.....guys......uh.... advertising is like uh.......not so new.....i think it came out in like the 80's
- TransFatty0
someone just told me :
"this gets the "old" because it was made fun of in a simpsons episode circa 1993 "
-even more frightening ....
i'd like to think i'd be able to spot these multiple personality disorders in shiny white nikes... but ... you never know .... after all ... they DO blend in with the "normal" populice so well ....
makes me think ... all this time, all those trucker hats have actually had cameras in them .... i knew it ...

They've been using this method in bars for many years.

yeah, I have been seeing a lot of 20 somethings riding John Deere mowers lately...so those truckers paid off I guess.
*wondering how much they paid Ashton Kutcher
