ok, i am retarded. i got an mp3 cd from a friend, copied the filed onto the hard drive, opened them in iTunes. now it won't let me change any of the track info. it says i don't have permission. how do i fix this?
thanks in advance for the help.

Get info on the file(s) and change the owner and permissions as needed.

i tried that, they are all set to read & write and me as the owner. is that correct?

Have you actually added them to your library? (I guess it is set to do that when you play them, or drag them in)
- Duane0
Hmm, that should have fixed it. Not sure what's up. Maybe the tunes you're trying to edit are linked to the cd? Try deleting them from iTunes and then drag the local copies back in and see what happens.

yes they are in my library. they will play but i can't enter artist name, genre etc...
i also tried to conver the tracks to mp3 option in advanced to get new mp3s but it says i don't have permission to do that either.

Did you try importing direct from the CD?
- grayhood0
still no go testpiolt.
its weird some of the albums can be changed and some can't.didn't try importing direct from the cd, i will give that a shot.
- grayhood0
the import comand won't even let me select the files on the cd, only open does

Instead of going straight from the CD to iTunes, copy them to a local folder and then bring them into iTunes.
Maybe?
