i have some questions regarding the installation of apps.
i installed the audioscrobbler plugin, and now i have a directory off the main called "iscrobbler" what's with that? is that where it installed it? do i need to move it somewhere else? if i eject it will it uninstall it?
if anyone has a link to a basic how-to site for macs, specifically osx, that would be great.
thanks in advance.

"Directory off the main" what?
It should have installed into Applications folder.

yeah, you need to drag and drop it into the Applications folder
otherwise it will eject and you cant use it.

Are you looking at a mounted disk image (virtual disk) on your desktop?
If so, it hasn't installed anything yet... you just drag the app from there into your Applications folder on your hard drive. Thats it. Then drag the virtual disk to the trash.

everything in that folder? there's the app and then a couple txt documents.
from what i can tell this osx is kind of like linux...yes? and i havent worked with that in a couple years.

there are 2 ways a program can install. It depends on how the software you download sets it up.
Either you install it with in an installer they give you.
Or alot of the time most applications are just 1 single file you drag into the applications folder.
as apple puts it here..
http://www.apple.com/pro/trainin…When the application is finished downloading to your desktop, double-click the installer if the application requires one.
If the application doesn't require an installer, simply drag it to your Applications folder in the Sidebar.
this will help you.

im thinking it's just the file. i give up. it's the audioscrobbler plugin for itunes (mac).
ive tried dragging it to the app folder, ive tried double-clicking it on the desktop, ive tried dragging in the app folder & double clicking. nothing.
everytime i double-click it, no matter where it is, it mounts itself on the root.
this is me, giving up.

.dmg file mounts itself upon double click... and then you open up the mounted DMG and drag the file inside the Mounted DMB into yoru app folder
