Somehow my yahoo mail account got infiltrated. Overnight something got into my inbox and sent viruses to everyone else in my inbox with text attachments like "cute animals" or "mp3 music file" I got a copy of Norton AntiVirus and ran it on my harddrive-after 2 hours everything came up clean. How can I prevent this? It super sucks because I had professional contacts in my inbox, like clients, art directors, aiga people, etc. Sorta embarrasing that I'm sending them viruses with the title "cute animals" or whaever. Any ideas?

Maybe I should report it to Yahoo mail. Any recommendations for OSX prtoection? Like I said, I grabbed a copy of Norton AntiVirus, but I don't know much about it.

also, scan your email attachments before opening them - or don't open them at all.
keep your mac os software up to date
and run nortons live update on a regular basis

This is the stumper, though mitsu: I did not open that e-mail. This morning I'm checking my mail and get a message from a friend that says "check your shit, mel you just sent me a virus" and THAT's when I noticed this stranger mail with attachments in my inbox. Of course, I deleted it right away without opening it.

I doubt you have a virus if you use webmail. someone probably is just using your address as the reply-to.
