I have inherited this lame ass site for my firm. Am in the process of updating/re-designing it.
http://www.lang-communications.c…
Any constructive crits or ideas on how I can rescue the situation would be most welcome.
The first thing i am going to do is keep only one version, probably HTML and then rebuild from scratch.
Cheers

Copy the content of the site onto paper with a pen.
Start - Programs - Textpad..
Start with a DOC TYPE declaration and just take it from there.

yeah, yeah cheers for the basics guys ;-)
Just having the usual problem of having trouble with a site I'm too close too. I have ideas down on paper and have started designing in photoshop but have not been enspired yet.
I would like to bin the whole lot but the big cheese is insisting that the style stays, freeking hate our logo too, really want to re-do that too.

I would love to oblige. The next thing on my list of things to do is get a decent personal site out there. But then it's been next thing on my list for about a year now.
I did a holding page ages ago but i let my hosting laps recently so I can change hosts. so watch this space.

This is a company that i set up with a friend of mine. I thought this worked really well and we got some very positive feedback on the clarity. Not sure if it will work for my new firm though.

I know full well that the old version is hite. The Flash intro in the HTML version is not my doing.
What's wrong with Scala Sans? Cheeky fooker ;)

what's wrong with the Scala Sans...
i studied graphic design in Arnhem on the same academy the designer of the Scala was.
it might be that i'm sick of it due to some over-use of that typeface by students since 1999, the year of release.
every time i read a word set in the Scala Sans, i think: "damn, they used the Scala Sans".
it's a shape that is too much in the foreground to use as plain text in my opinion.
- mijlee0
Well i guess I didn't study in Arnhem so I guess i have a more objective approach. I studied Typography in Exeter so I guess I should also be able to make an educated decision.
Anyway none of this matters because i certainly won't be using it any time soon.
