im a poor student, and all i need it for is photoshop and illustrator, whats the performance like on these programs,?
er, what are the speakers like, and is it possible to hook another monitor up so i can spread work over two monitors?

emac = crap
get a 15" or 17" imac before you get that.
Check out the Deals section in the Apple Store... they have referbs there for a decent price.
Go to http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-… store.. on the left side toward teh bottem is a Big Red Tag.. click there..
apple referbs are pretty much new.. and you save a nice penny... plus get the latest software and a year warrenty plus option to buy upgrade to teh warrenty within the year.
If they are out of stock..or not carrying any...
i would check ebay and get like a 1ghz imac 15 or 17.

acctually... let me take that back... if you really just need a 799 computer.. the emac should be fine for you.. the screen is my big quam... its not that great.
But if you can get the imac with the flat panel screen etc.. i would go that route..
but ya.. i guess if you want to get the emac. it would be fine..
but... you will need to upgrade the RAM from 256 to 786 or whatever.... but dont get it from apple.com

so whatever you get... the imac or emac.. be sure to spend the extra 100 and get a stick of 512 Ram

yea, i planned on upping memory to 1gb, and i have a 19" sony monitor which i can hopefully hook up along side,
imac seems ok, but its a bit to much atm,
i did have a decent pc, but it killed itself royally last month, so now im stuck on a peice of shit amd k6-2,

well in that case... if you are hooking up an external monitor.. i dont think you will be able to with the emac.
If you already have the monitor... get a Tower.
Pick up like a Dual 1ghz or something. much better off going that way since you have the 19

also if you buy off ebay.. make sure it comes with the CDs.. some people load this shiz on the computer.. then dont send the cds.. which is illigal...
