Maybe the computer is just a tool then. But what other tools are there? Rulers? You would have to scan everything in anyways...

art influences design and vice versa, but they are seperate. Design is an art i guess.
- illdesign0
That made no sense.

I approach art differently than I approach design. Thats just me.
- aliendn0
well you could "approach" sexual relations with angelina jolie and sally struthers differently, but its sill f#@king
- TransFatty0
wait ... are you talking sally struthers from 1976
or 1996 .... coz .....-

LOL That reminded me of Chris Farley in Tommy Boy...
But yeah I approach art in a more open-minded experimental way and design in a problem solving way, art is never about problem-solving, more like problem-making.

my time is short, these points could have been covered as i spot checked most of the replies listed for this...
design is about solving problems, first and formost. it isnt some giant style war to put your mark everywhere..although it is tempting. style if any, should be derived from the solution, things should look correct for the situation. now alot of design now a days, is all about catching the eyeball and staying relevant, or proving to your peers that yes you are one of them..."classic" or pure design in my book, is functional. form comes from function. the visuals should solve problems before creating them. an example is the played out tiny tiny text. although when used correctly it challenged certain ideas about type, the constant use of such a style weakened its impact...same with the grunge look of today...it began as a reaction of what happened before, then everybody "liked it" design isnt all about making things look cool. it is more than just strokin the ego...maybe thats the easiest way to put it.
well there.. you got 2 minutes of me spewing my ass on NT.
eat it up-slurp slurp.
