why doesnt someone just invent a cheap device that works like a portable radio that could connect to your harddrive at home wirelessly? that way you could hear all the music off your harddrive at home, and not be limited by your portable device's hardware limitations. the battery power of this device would be minute as it doesnt require a lot of energy to power a radio.
ok ok, im just ranting of having to buy new devices(phones, ipods, pdas) every 6 months with discontinued support.
but could the idea mentioned above work? its pretty much the same idea as streaming audio/real player.

That shit wouldn't work dude. You can't have very body in the damn world emitting radio waves. Too much radiation
what will work is increasing hard drive capacity to ridiculouslevels, say, a coupl eterabytes in your palm. Then they can get your cell phone, radio, and ipod, and cpu for that matter wherever the f*** you want.
It aint too far off either. especially with the advent of solid state storage.

interesting...
i heard that they're trying to develop a technological protcol for devices to be updated...so that it isnt dependant on the hardware. i guess the concept is like if you bought a sony mini disc in 1992, you could upgrade the thing to play mp3s/ac3s or whatever.
this is a feasible idea, but means less money is to be made in the long run.

Really the only limitation is HD space. They're about to kill that whole problem. Then it's all good.

it's the quality, stupid.
more hard drive space means EVEN more bad music to fill your time. Time is money, stop wasting mine....

Eventually everything will be stored on the network, accessible anywhere... no hard drives... devices will only be as large as the user interface requires.

yeah iwould think a network would be more ideal that harddrive as its less redundant and would eliminate synching all the time

what about a device that connects to your computers' ip address accessing the itunes folder (or whatever) and you only have to pay monthly for internet charges like a cell phone. that would work. it would be slower than the ipods hd but its a way to have more space. you just can't go very far with it.
screw it, ipod fricken rules. they just need to make the connection wireless so it can recognize the network and give the choice to browse the computer files. like on star trek.

"That shit wouldn't work dude. You can't have very body in the damn world emitting radio waves. Too much radiation"
radiation? no. not with fucking radiowaves.
but it is true that we cant have everybody and anybody filling the air with radiowaves. the airtraffic controllers already use up all their allotted frequencies.
im thinking they could maybe use the wifi/bluetooth to do this, if it becomes widespread enough. which im sure it will.
think of it, grab information out of the air anywhere. amazing.
myself, im getting an ipod now as you get a good deal on one when you buy a PB. rock on.

I've herd that Sony is on its way with something which is gonna be cheaper and smaller than iPod, i also herd its gona be 10GB only but its gonna support OGG format which is means that is gonna be smaller in file size then MP3 files and will be able to handle more songs.
But dont believe me, its just what i've herd.
