i ordered a 20gig gen3 from apple last friday (not knowing the new ones would come out) and i got an email saying they cancelled my order and are sending me a 40gig gen 4, plus a free case , adapter, and everything that came with the original 20 gig.
pretty spiffy deal.

what i mean by it doesnt make sense is that jobs said they were trying to bring manufacturing costs down hence bring the cost of the ipod down, but it hasn't really.

The reason why the wheel is grey-ish, that's because the text "menu, play, fastforward and rewind" are white - I'd though fellow designers could see that ;)
The question is: can these text illuminate? white?

Im not gonna buy a new one - my old chunky 20gb 2. generation works fine...
I need more new feat. Colourscreen, photocard sluts ect.
...or am I wrong?

i'm glad there's no color display. rather have 12 hrs battery. let's just hope it's not faulty.
i think getting the ipod into too other many markets (photo, interweb, etc.) would deter from it being just a good mp3 player.

by the look of things i don't think the 40 comes with those extras anymore, only the dock. so the cost of the 20 with the dock is $338 US and the cost of the 40 with the dock is $399 US.

they're cheaper now because the 20 gig model does NOT come with some of the things that the 3rd gen 20 gig model came with: i.e. remote control, dock, carrying case. if you bought those seperately, it would be about the same price as the "old" 20g model.

apple is the only company that updated (upgrates) product and it gets cheaper!! respect!!

it blows that they don't come with the black cases anymore. i wonder if i should keep my case when i trash my 2nd gen ipod.
it may be a little big but it'd still protect it i'm sure.
