Anyone been to Norway? Thinking on planning a trip at new year and I want an idea of the costs and if it's pretty happening over there at that time of year.
thanx

hm, the weather can be terrible during that season.
in summertime the LOFOTEN are incredible nice.
i've been to the island Röst, the strangest place i've ever seen.

Stayed in a couple of days in Oslo at the Norwegian Film Institutes expence.
Nice, but small and expensive city.

brilliant - do you guys have any idea on how much things are roughly like a main course meal and a pint. Just trying to get an idea of how much money i'll need for spending.

my house mate spent last new year in norway... she said that a whopper meal was like £8-£9... said that drinks in bars were all £5+... they took so much duty free with them though! but they did say it was wicked!

Hi.
I am Norwegian and have lived two years in Bergen and five years in Oslo.
Norway is very expencive if you go there to party. Although, find some norwegians and have a party at someones apartment or house in the mountains. It's always more fun.
I am spending my new year in New York, hopefully.
Bergen is a very beautiful place, although very rainy in the winter.
Oslo is wonderful and fun, but stay out of the main street "Karl Johan" and hang out at the east side.
Good Luck and enjoy. Don't be afraid to talk to the Norwegians, they are nicer than they look. A bit shy, that's all.

I've been to Oslo on a Scandic tour when living in Helsinki, FI a few years back. Nice people, nice food and beautiful scenery, fjords, etc. Should be Ultra-Cold at New Years.

That's Lapland, isn't it. At least it is in Northern Finland. http://www.visitfinland.com/wint…
