guys, i'm curious what you find the going rate for a web/print designer.
I had an interview, told the guy I made 35k at my last job...(true)
and he said it was more than what they were looking at.
I'm thinking, fuck, thats like taking home about 2k a month....
to rent a decent 1 br. you're looking at $800-1300 a month....car insurance, gas, food...etc.
thats nuts.
the cost of living has gone up but these companies aren't paying....
they're gonna make me an offer I think of 30-32k.
thats kinda low.
i'll have to do extra work just to be able to make ends meet.

well I take 1.5k (euros) a mouth , i live in europe :D
1.3k for an appartment?!?! Wow that is expensive....

Basically - life is expensive because so many luxuries have become necessities ;)

I was speaking to a potential employer (local agency) 2 weeks ago. I was super-excited and I asked them what the position paid and it was almost 10 g's less than what I make at the publisher I work for now. I got off the phone as quickly as I could. those bastards are always saying "our clients would look great in your portfolio". I'm an american, if it dont make dollars it dont make sense.
