iPAQ 5550 user here since last December.
the SD cards go up to 2gb, so no storage probs, i've only got a 256meg sd card and thats got all i need on it, personal pics, a few of my vids. its also has bluetooth and bulit in lan.
so i get wireless broadband from my router/modem all around the house and the bluetooth connects with my mobile phone,
used correctly they are not just boys toys but a handy bit of kit.
i also have pocket paiinter, lots of features similar to mini photoshop. so i do art on the fly, make sketches, etc.
its worth checking ebay, peeps get them as unwanted pressies and sell them really cheap, i got mine from ebay

i've got one, i just don't use it nearly as much as i thought i would. looking to trade my axim x5 for some midi controller... something that i'll be able to get more use out of.

I've got an old Axim X5 as well, it still owns. Support does sometimes suck with dell, but i haven't had to ever use it myself. Check www.aximsite.com for info on your axim. Those new ones look insanely nice, imo. I wish I had waited, but this one still serves its many many purposes (portable audio, video, GPS, internet, scheduling, contact info, calculator, games, ebooks, etc.)

how are you guys finding the wifi connection on these babies?
- toulouz0
nah, movies are only liek a few minutes of my own stuff, i edit my home dv just using pinnacle studio, nothing professional.
yeah the internet is slower than broadband. but cant be bad to get your email on the loo.... or in bed
and it will pick up wifi hotspots in the city.
i lurv it...got tomtom gps satnav for it too

I have a toshiba e355 I use it quite a bit. I am actually trying to develop for pocket pc, so I do a bit of testing with it.
I can only use bluetooth with mine, it doesnt have a wifi option (that would have been nice). But I can get a GPS attachment, that would be really sweet.
I still don't know why the onboard memory for pocket pc's are so low. The one I have only has 64mb though you can place a 500mb storage card into it.

i have ipaq 2215
only weak point is no "wi-fi".
Other than that . . . great !

i got a blackberry last week... small, light and built for what it is meant for... pocket pcs tend to try and accomodate to many types of users.
