that damn thing could fit like 8 ipods in it!!!
Why not just throw a hard drive in there and let me store music on it.
I think someone can do better.

i just put a new stereo in my 84 cresside wagon i like to call it the Luv Hut, and i was just going to get a tape deck so i could plus my ipod in, but i got a shitty cd player with a front aux line so its just one cable. this alpine this is just a charge and a aux line, what the point?

yeah, i just bought an old mercedes for $450. not wanting to spend as much on my stereo as my car, i got a shitty CD player for $90 or something with a front aux jack... i love how the shitty CD players were the only ones that would read mp3 CDs and have an aux jack

because I hate the look of third party cd players, I got an auxi adapter for the cd changer port on the back of my factory Honda cd/radio-- works great

I also use my ipod through the aux input in my pioneer deck. It works just fine.
The cool thing about the Apline hookup is that you can control your ipod from the head unit including scrolling through tracks and seeing song info displayed on the unit. That to me is cool since it is kind of a pain in the ass to drive and search through tracks on my ipod.

For anyone interested I just found this page http://www.installer.com/ipod/
which lists a lot of the aux adapters for car stereos.

wow, lots of gripes.
like others mentioned, it powers the iPod and let's you control it from the head unit. if you can't mount your iPod in and easy to see spot, this is perfect, just plug it in and go.
sure you can get a cheap head unit and run the aux in to it but your still going to have to charge it all the time and take your eyes off the road to switch songs. the size of it isn't that bad, smaller then a cd changer, plenty of spots to mount it in your car.

The alpine unit also includes an Amp. MP3's and AAC's coded at 128 bit or less start to sound crappy on good speakers without external power, and even then, some of the clarity is lost.
