hmm... probably more on the quiet tip. My lady and I will be on our way back from a weeks holiday in spain. looking for a nice place to stay -- central to restaurants and pubs. not too crazy expensive. we're both designers and artists -- we like the modern stuff but could be down for more traditional accomodations too. any recommendations for good eats is much appreciated too. cheers!

Ill keep this short.....all dublin hotels are expensive to me. Would a hostel be out of the question?
As for where to eat well it depends on what your into.
Personally I am more into the down to earth places like Chameleon (Indonesian), Acapulco (Mexican),
for lunch : Cornocopia Wholefood, Gruel Cafe, Cafe Irie, Winding Stair (haven't been in years though), Steps of Rome Pizza slicesactually there is too many, google dublin restaurant guides I. It can be easier to recommend where not to go.....
what to see. well you just missed the Muller Brockmann exhibition. If you into galleries or museums there is IMMA in Kilaminham, or the National gallery on Merrion Sq. but I'd recommend the Chester Beatty Library in dublin castle. It isn't massive but the print works are amazing http://www.cbl.ie/
gallery of photography in meeting house square w/ regularly changing exhibitions can be worthwhile, if you go there on sat the square is also an organic food market
As for going out there is no shortage of pubs etc. There is lots of stuff on throughout Diversions hopefully the day you go there will be something worth seeing

some event may need tickets collected during the day at temple bar properties near meeting house sq..
You might be into plays : you could check out the project theatre, maybe.
You can also check the event guide free magazine that you see in many pubs, venues, etc
their crap site http://www.eventguide.ie/as for clubs, late bars well that'll also depend on what music your into. No point sending you to Bassbin if your into jazz
There is way more going on but anymore questions let me know

stay at home the place is a shit hole and its expensive as Feck!
- lowimpakt0
aye, it is expensive that is because of the growth in certain sectors of the economy. It may be expensive for tourists but it is worse for the poor living here.
just check the GDP etc..
