image sequence

Hi all,
I'm looking for a fresh approach to fading images in and out in sequence (fading one image in then fading that out and fading another image in). Old but useful for what I'm doing.
But can anyone tell me how this can be achieved through actionscript?
And can anyone show me some fresh approaches to fading a sequence of images in and out?
Hope I've make sense as its Friday afternoon.
