I just listened to mine and there was no sound, but if i put my ear right next to my ipod it make a sharpish sound. But why would you put your ear right next to it anyway. I think it's just the normal sound of the HD.

I don't think it's the hard disc it's when your finger hits the button. I think it's the button.

It doesn't make the 'noise' when it's in the dock.. so I don't think it's the button.... and I don't think it's anything to worry about.
