i did a flash animation for a client meant for use on the web.... 31 fps.
now they want the animation transferred to a dvd... so i have to change it to 29.97 fps
a sound track has been recorded... so obviously if i just change the frame rate in flash the timing gets all f'd up.
how important is this 29.97 fps? i'm not an expert in video... will it look like shit on dvd if i just leave it at 31? any quick solutions for this conversion?
this is turning into a huge waste of time and obviously the client doesn't understand what's involved.

ps - i'm exporting flash to director and then director to quicktime which adds to the fun i'm having...

If the frame rate is important then forget it.
The frame rate your swf will play at will never be exactly what you set it to.

just export the quicktime as 29.97.

mrdobolina - is that a setting in director? i haven't gotten my hands on that program yet... i don't see that as option in the flash export.
thx.

if you're on a pc faslh doesn't always export as a proper quicktime but a flash movie in a qt player... i'd export as an avi... orpn in quicktime pro and then export from there as 29.97... probably needs to be uncompressed too.

enagge has the best idea, why are you going through director? To preserve actionscripts?

the problem i ran into and posted yesterday was that the movie clips on my main timeline do not play in the exported quicktime movie...
they simply sit on the last frame so my main timeline plays in the quicktime but any animation contained in movie clips does not play.
someone suggested that director will fix this problem.
thanks for the replies!

the project was intended for web... and now the client wants it on a dvd

well as far as I know 29.97 is what you want to export out at at MPEG

the reason your anims won't play is coz you have loads of movieclips I imagine... you need to turn them to graphics with play once/loop etc. on... you'll see if this works by scrolling through the frame in edit mode.

james, THANK YOU
i've never used the graphic setting in flash. didn't understand the difference between that and movie clip.
that should solve the problem.
